‘The Special one’, yes that’s what Mourinho has been called for years, that’s why the Portuguese manager has never been shy away from attention during his years in management and has certainly caught the eye again with his latest Instagram activity.

Is it some kind of superstitious act or just physically effective? But for sure, removing pieces of your socks appears to be a growing trend in the professional game as highlighted by Mourinho’s recent posts.

Some of the images show polka dot design cutting that some players have made to their kits
It is believed that players make adjustments such as this to their attire to relieve a build-up of pressure around their calf muscle

According to Daily Mail, the fabric reportedly cuts some of the blood flow to the calf, leading to cramp and discomfort, that’s something players don’t want to happen.

Roma manager Mourinho cryptically captioned his post ‘Beautiful socks for the Beautiful Game… Approved by the football authorities’.

The true meaning behind Mourinho’s post?

Fans online are offering numerous theories to unlock unlock the true meaning behind Mourinho’s words.

Some even suggested that the 60-year-old tactician making a sly dig at Manchester City following charges made against them by the Premier League on Monday.

The former Chelsea, Man United and Spurs manager was unhappy with Man City situation 2 years ago, as his rant about the spending power resurfaces.

In 2020, Man City successfully overturned the two-year ban from UEFA for breaking FFP rules. They were supposed to be eliminated from the competition, but then the fine was reduced from 30m euro to 10m euro only.

It isn’t obvious whether Mourinho’s decision to post images is an ironic joke aimed at the strange looking kit adjustment or a disgruntled moan at players.
