The 2018 champions showed their teeth within the first 10 minutes into the first half, with the clear chance fell to Phan Van Duc who fired wide from Quang Hai’s pass.

It did not take Vietnam long to break the deadlock. Only 5 minutes later, Tien Linh headed in his 13th international goal from a inch-perfect cross from Doan Van Hau.

No signs of bouncing back from the home team, only Vietnam’s chances kept coming, one of which again belonged to Tien Linh but the Binh Duong striker missed it in the 21st minute.

There were worries when talisman Quang Hai was forced to take off with probably hamstring injury, Van Quyet was subbed in and immediately test Laos keeper with a header.

The Hanoi Fc’s captain was involved in Vietnam’s second goal two minutes from the break. The veteran assisted Hung Dung who expertly finished low into the far right corner.
