The Dutchman has agreed a deal with Atletico Madrid and made some profits for Barcelona.
Memphis Depay joins Atletico Madrid as no swapping deal happened with Yannick Carrasco remains staying at the capital club.
The forward is moving to the capital with both clubs agreeing the basis of a deal in the morning.
The initial plan, which was confirmed by Carrasco’s agent was to swap Depay and the Belgium striker.
However, it was all but confirmed that Atletico would activate a permanent transfer at the cost around 3-5 million euros, which is actually quite a deal for the Catalan club.
Depay joined Barca as free agent in the Summer of 2021 from Lyon and now, he ‘helped’ Barca 3 million euros while save his salary.
With the savings, they hope to be able to inscribe Gavi and Araujo’s deals.
Meanwhile, Los Colchoneros found their replacement for Joao Felix who joined Chelsea on loan until the end of the season.
Depay allowed to leave with the permission fo the club he did not attend training on Wednesday, ahead of the Copa del Rey clash with Ceuta on Thursday.
Memphis arrived under Ronald Koeman and did well for the Dutch coach, but lost protagonism in the team after Xavi’s arrival. Injury plus Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s arrivals cost him.
In the summer Barca tried to sell him and Juve wanted him but his demands were too high and the deal fell through.
This season Memphis has only managed 206 minutes across four games and decided he wants to go.
